My first week in Utrecht

Eating McDonalds in Europe for the first time. The Quarter Pounder tasted the same, but the fries were less salty. Also, I had to pay for my ketchup packet!
This is my room. I have my own sink, and share a kitchen, bathroom, living room, and laundry room with three other girls.
Here I am on the streets of Utrecht. Most people bike here, so when you walk you have to be careful not to be in the bike lane, or they will ring the bell on their bikes angrily at you!

The church in the city center. It is a five minute bike ride from my class, and about twenty minutes from where I live.

The statue in front of the church in Utrecht.

The church in Utrecht.

The builiding where I take my classes.

I bought this bike at the store "Wheels" in Utrecht. The Dutch are the tallest people in Europe (second tallest in the world), so the only used bike that fit me was a child's bike. This purple and blue bike (with a camoflage seat!) is my main means of transportation around the city.

This is the street where my class is located- it is right next to a canal. Whenever I lock up my bike I have to be careful to lock to a the railing, because people enjoy throwing bikes into the canal. Because this happens often, every few months they have to clean out the canals, and get out all the bikes!
